There are lots of ‘holidays’ for wine; National Drink Wine Day, Cabernet Day, Repeal Day, Texas Wine Month… the list is never ending. At Brennan Vineyards we celebrate a few of these, but one that we particularly love is “Open That Bottle Night”.
In fact, we love it so much that we host an entire Wine Club Pick Up Party around it.
On the last Saturday of February each year, the roaring sound of corks popping out of bottles floods the night time air. This year we celebrate on February 27th!
What is ‘Open that Bottle Night’???
Years ago, Wall Street Journal wine writers Dottie Gaiter and John Brecher invented ‘Open That Bottle Night’. A designated night each year to gather with friends and open wines that you have been saving for a special occasion (that in all honesty may never come). We are all quite guilty of the anxiety that may strike when selecting your evening wine “Oh not that one, it is special”. Well, for this night alone, lets share in a joint tasting of these momentous wines.
In the words of OTBN’s founder Dottie Gaiter “The wine doesn’t have to be a precious, dust-covered relic. It could be a wine, old or young, that just has some significance for you.”
This year marks our eighth year celebrating ‘Open That Bottle Night’ at Brennan Vineyards with our nearest and dearest friends, customers, and wine-o’s.
We have our bottles picked out, how about you?
Don’t forget your bottle of wine!
